Restaurant I've Never Heard Of Is Now Open

Normally, I'd take the blame for being too inattentive to know a new restaurant was in the works or about to open. This time around, though, I won't, because it seems like lately restaurants are opening and closing faster than you can blink around here.

(And I do very much enjoy sharing as soon as I hear some new eatery is in the works, as my archives show. I announced Morton's three thousand years ago, though judging by the info I had back then, these people are way beyond schedule. We should be happy some awnings are up at this point, I guess.)

But behold: International Quesadilla Co. is open. They serve quesadillas (no, for real!), as well as ceviche tostadas, chilorio tacos and ropa vieja tacos.

Being the huge lover of Mexican food that I am, I'll be visiting soon.

I wondered the same thing, judging by the address... I just got the news in my inbox pretty much as I shared it...

Anybody been to the new Indian place Mint Leaf yet?

Have you tried Mint Leaf on Alhambra?
It is OUTSTANDING! Me and a group of 5 had an unbelievable experience there last Friday night. The owner was present and told us to give him back the menus because HE was going to order for all of us; If we did not like the food, we did not have to pay the bill. Everything was beyond our expectations. Radjit Sood, the owner, is an incredibly charming man. We arrived at 8:30pm and stayed until closing. Mr. Sood even sat down with us the last part of the evening.

I drive by there every weekend night (i live 2 blocks away) and it is always busy. try it out--you'll love it.

My husband went to mint leaf and said it was very disappointing.
I'm just amazed how someone has the courage to open a restaurant when things are so hard right now...yesterday I took a walk on miracle mile and call me crazy, but I would say 30% of the business were closed!

I think this is a replacement for Mari-Nalli -- when I went by Mari-Nalli a few months ago it said it was closed for renovations and in the meantime please go to Jaguar. Apparently they renamed it too.

I enjoyed Mari-Nalli the few times I had lunch there. I will have to stop by this place one day this week and see if it's different now.

Ah, thanks for the clarification, CJ. Melissa, if you go, let us know what you think!

And yes, it seems to me that there are way more shuttered storefronts on the Mile than there have been in a long while...

And what's the deal with Nexxt Cafe? They spent all that money renovating the corner specifically for Nexxt, and now they're closed? I guess the Dirty Dining reports were too much? Food that crappy for the price? City Cellar...closed. Salad Works...closed. that restaurant on the opposite side of City Cellar...(what was the name, Max's Grill?) closed. Does our economy suck that bad, or is it just the Gables that can't get it together?

I went to the International Quesadilla place last night. The man working there told me they did renovations, changed the name, and added and few things to the menu.

I enjoyed my quesadilla and bowl of tortilla soup. I plan on going back. I also found the ambiance to be pleasant and the customer service was very attentive.

I'm back... unfortunately my experience wasn't the same as the previous post. I stopped by today after work, went up to the counter and was asked if I wanted to eat there or take something to go. I said I was going to eat there and the girl told me to take a seat and someone would be right with me. After sitting at my table for 5 minutes, I got up and got a menu for myself because no one brought one to me, and after another 5 minutes I left because no one came over to take my order. A man that came in after me had his order taken before I'd gotten up for my menu...

I was sitting at the counter facing the kitchen so I know it wasn't because they couldn't see me. And the lunch crowd had just left, so it wasn't because they were too busy either. Me, the man that came in after me, and a couple outside were all the customers they had at the time.

Too bad... I really liked the place before...

I had lunch at Int'l Quesadilla Co. today with Naveed K. of Yelp (he must eat at a lot of restaurants, he is enormous).

It was delicious and the service was great (perhaps because we were the only people in there).

I had the Napoli quesadilla and the Shrimp "ceviche" (I think the shrimp was actually cooked with heat, not in the citrus acid).

The leather couch seating was very comfortable after our long bike ride this morning.

I would suggest you all visit, and instead of just sitting there waiting for someone to help you, catch someone's attention and place an order. Geez, it's like you've never been to a restaurant in Miami before.

I work in customer service. Where I come from employees are supposed to assist customers without being asked to do so.

So many times I see or hear rudeness being dismissed as just something I should accept because this is Miami.

No thanks, there are plenty of other places for me to spend my time and money without having to chase down someone to take my order.

I'm with Melissa on this one. At the very least, you greet people and ask if they can be helped. I don't work in customer service, but if someone walks in my office, I greet them and ask them what they need.

So glad to see I'm not alone... (sorry, didn't get back to see your reply before)

Anyway... I noticed a big "for lease" sign in the window this morning... so maybe I wasn't the only one disappointed with their lack of service...

I ate there in July and it wasn't bad. But, this place has already closed, after only being open a few months. There's a for lease sign in the window. I wonder what happened.
